The 26th Residential Summer String Camp Begins

This year’s camp runs from the 17th of January 2016 (Sunday) to the 23rd of January 2016 (Saturday). The information that follows applies between those two dates.

Arrival (17th January 2016)

Campers must not arrive at Camp Clayton before 3:30pm as there may be other groups on the site and we have been asked to keep to our booked times.

Registration is from 4:00pm to 5:30pm in the Dining Hall Foyer. Please go there to collect your nametag and folder before proceeding to anywhere else on the site.

Announcements will be made in the Dining Hall starting at 5:30pm. Campers must not miss these even if it means a delay in moving bags to rooms.

Visits During the Camp

Parents and family are welcome to visit the camp during the week, but you need to contact us ahead of time as Camp Clayton management have strict policies about visitors. Unregistered visitors may only be on the site:

  • During registration (17th January 2016, 4:00pm to 5:30pm).
  • For the orchestra concert (23rd January 2016, 1:30pm to 4:00pm).

We are at the capacity of the Dining Hall, so cannot offer any meals that have not previously been booked.

Chamber Music Concert (22nd January 2016)

Registered concert guests have been e-mailed details for this item.

Orchestra Concert (23rd January 2016)

This concert is held in the Stadium (the largest building on the Camp Clayton site, easily visible from the car park). Audience members may enter from 1:30pm. The music begins at 2:00pm and runs until 3:30pm. All campers must leave Camp Clayton by 4:00pm.

Please do not go anywhere else on the site looking for your children. They will find you at the Stadium, and will show you where to collect their bags after the concert.

Check the lost property box before you leave.

2016 Information Sheets Reminder

With the 26th Residential Summer String Camp beginning on Sunday, 17th January 2016 it is a good time for campers and parents to take another look at the Information Sheets, found at the link below.

What to Bring

This is on page 2 of the information sheets. Please also be aware:

  • Camp Clayton management has a strict policy to protect people with nut allergies. They insist that no nuts or nut products, including nut butters, are brought onto the camp site. Please comply with this rule to respect the safety of others.
  • Even if you are using a sleeping bag, please bring a bedsheet as we are not allowed to sleep directly on the camp mattresses. If the weather is hot, children tend to sleep on the mattress under the sleeping bag so a sheet is a necessity.
  • Don’t forget to put your name clearly on your music stand.

How to Get There
