The 25th Residential Summer String Camp has Ended

The Residential Summer String Camp is over for 2015. The final concert featured music by Václav Nelhýbel, Stephen Chin, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Paul Hindemith and others.

This camp also had more electives than any previous camp, the 25th anniversary dinner on Wednesday, a kidnapped frog and just a little rain.

We will add photographs and recordings from the camp to the Galleries by the end of February 2015.

The 26th Residential Summer String Camp is already scheduled to run from 17th January 2016 (Sunday) to 23rd January 2016 (Saturday).

The 25th Residential Summer String Camp Begins

If you have applied and are reading this before the camp, we expect to see you at Camp Clayton between 4:00pm and 5:30pm today, as described on page 4 of the Information Sheets.

If you are a parent or friend attending either concert, we will see you on Friday, 23rd January 2015 (Chamber Music Concert) or Saturday, 24th January 2015 (Orchestra Concert).  Additional details are on page 6 of the Information Sheets.

Information Sheets Reminder

With the 25th Residential Summer String Camp beginning on Sunday, 18th January 2015, it is a good time for campers and parents to take another look at the Information Sheets, found at the link below.

RSSC 2015 Information Sheets (PDF)

While all of the Information Sheets are relevant, please be particularly sure that:

  1. You have everything under “What to bring” (page 2).
  2. You know how to get there (page 3).
  3. Any guests you will bring to the concerts know the time and place for those (page 6).

Please also review the Code of Conduct you agreed to follow when you signed the application form:

RSSC 2015 Application Form (Child) (PDF)

RSSC 2015 Application Form (Adult) (PDF)

The Code of Conduct begins on page 6 of the child form and page 5 of the adult form, but is the same for all campers.

Before packing for the camp, also take a moment to read the Code of Conduct section titled “Annoying or Dangerous Items”.

Gallery Update

With the Residential Summer String Camp celebrating its 25th consecutive year in 2015, it was time to go through our archives and scan all the photographs we could find.

Visit the Galleries page, and you will now find it now covers almost every year back to the first camp in 1991.

Sometimes we only had the photograph of the whole camp. These are collected below, showing how it grew from 1991 to 2013.

If the camp remains this size, 2013 will be the last time we ask everyone to line up in the stadium. In 2014 we took four group photographs, one of each orchestra.
