Jo St. Leon – Viola

Jo had a successful orchestral career in London for thirty years. She feels privileged to have played with some of the world’s greatest orchestras, experiencing legendary conductors and iconic concert halls. She returned to Australia in late 2006 and settled in Hobart. For some years she was Head of Strings at St.Michael’s Collegiate and Lecturer in Viola at the Tasmanian Conservatorium. She formed the Elanee Ensemble with Stuart Thomson and was a member of the Diemen Quartet, playing throughout Tasmania and undertaking numerous mainland tours. A cancer diagnosis and COVID-19 have inspired her to make considerable changes to her lifestyle. She now plays the viola with the TSO and devotes much of her time to writing. Her first book will be published in late 2021.
