Lucy Carrig-Jones

Lucy was born in Adelaide and started playing the violin at the age of 4. Her music education included Primary Schools String Orchestra, Music Camps, Adelaide Youth Orchestra, Australian Youth Orchestra and World Youth Orchestra. She studied in Adelaide with various teachers including William Hennessy and Beryl Kimber before studying in Karlsruhe, Germany with Stelios Kafantaris.

Lucy holds the position of Principal Secind Violin in the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and is an inaugural member of the Australian World Orchestra with whom she has toured Australia and internationally with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Ricardo Mutti, Alexander Briger and Simone Young.

Within her role in the TSO she has performed as soloist and chamber musician on many occasions.

Lucy is a passionate educator having taught for many years privately and at the Tasmanian Conservatorium as well as working as a tutor at the Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute (AISOI), National Music Camp, Tasmanian Regional String Camp and Tasmanian Youth Orchestra.
