The 2018 Winter Orchestra Workshop Begins

LYCO rehearsals will resume after the school holidays end, on the 27th of July 2018. See the Rehearsals page for all rehearsal dates.

The Winter Orchestra Workshop is held at Camp Clayton, 41 Clayton Road, Ulverstone, Tasmania, 7315.

2018 Mid Year Concert

Instructions to Members

Rehearsal Timetable for the 29th of June 2018

All rehearsals will be on the City Baptist Church stage. This means that only one orchestra will be able to rehearse at a time. Please arrive in good time for your rehearsal and leave the stage efficiently so the next orchestra can set up.

Orchestra members may wait in the church between the rehearsal and the start of the concert.

Please bring your own music stand and a plate of food to share for supper.

2018 Winter Orchestra Workshop Repertoire

Apart from the major work of the Symphony No. 103 by Joseph Haydn, the other pieces played at the 2018 Winter Orchestra Workshop will be:

2018 Winter Orchestra Workshop Applications Open

The main work will the Symphony No. 103 in E♭ Major. Whose Symphony No. 103? Only one composer to date has written 103 different symphonies, so it must be Joseph Haydn.

The camp will run from the afternoon of 6th July 2018 (Friday) to 8th July 2018 (Sunday).

TSO Education and Outreach

LYCO members may be interested in the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s Education and Outreach programmes. In particular, those aged 25 and under may be eligible for the TSO Masterclasses in Launceston. Applications close on the 16th of March 2018 (today as of this posting). The masterclasses will be held on the 14th of April 2018 (Saturday).

Concert Dates in 2018

After downloading your parts for the Mozart Piano Concerti, you may wonder on what date they will be performed.

They will both be played at the Mid Year Concert on the 29th of June 2018 (Friday).

The Winter Orchestra Workshop will run from the 6th of July 2018 (Friday) to the 8th of July 2018 (Sunday).

The End of Year Concert will be on the 30th of November 2018 (Friday).
